“Wonderland” is a reflection on the fear of growing up, inspired by SZA’s Prom and the live-action Alice in Wonderland. Both explore the tension between expectation and authenticity—what it means to not be the “right” kind of woman, to feel too dreamy, too behind, too much. I wanted to depict Black women as whimsical, imaginative, and free—leaning into softness and wonder as strength. This piece holds space for those navigating self-doubt and self-definition, asking: What if returning to our inner world is the most honest way to grow?
