This piece centers West Coast dance—Crip Walk, Blood Walk—not just as style, but as survival. Born from grief and shaped by the streets of L.A., these movements hold the weight of history. In our communities, even pain moves. Joy doesn’t erase struggle—it rises from it. We’ve always danced through what tried to break us, turning sorrow into rhythm. This work asks: What does it mean to carry both joy and pain in your body? And what happens when movement becomes memory?
