This piece reflects on representation—how we’re seen, and how we’re often misseen. Inspired by Bell Hooks, Carrie Mae Weems, and The Four Agreements, it explores the tension between who we are and the projections placed upon us. As a portrait of my family, it questions what’s visible, what’s assumed, and what’s left out. It resists the pressure to be simply “positive” or “negative,” instead leaning into contradiction, complexity, and quiet truths. We are never just what others decide—we are layered, living, and unfinished. This work asks: What does it mean to be fully seen?
