Concrete Cowboys

This original oil painting, titled Concrete Cowboys, depicts a modern African-American cowboy and cowgirl inspired by the Netflix film "Concrete Cowboys" and the real-life Compton Cowboys. I juxtaposed an urban environment with an ethereal, Western-inspired landscape by transforming a street into a cliff. This bridge connects the gritty reality of urban life with the romanticized imagery of the Old West, honoring the legacy of Black cowboys from the 1860s to their modern counterparts. My intention is to highlight their resilience and influence, emphasizing that this heritage continues to thrive in contemporary culture.
